Kim Axelrod Ohanneson

As a child, Kim Axelrod Ohanneson saw a great deal of odd Southern California sites courtesy of her Pop Pop, an avid fan of the Golden State who dragged the family off on complicated sightseeing excursions every weekend.

Kim  always wanted to sit in the front seat.

Inheriting her dad’s passion for under-the-radar fun and taking other people along for the ride, Kim’s alter ego Ms. Go Go launched U Want 2 Go Go, a curated weekly guide (plus frequent special editions) to the best, quirky, offbeat events in the City of Angels.  Ms. Go Go prefers her excursions with liberal amounts of alcohol, sass and snark.  She hopes you’ll sit in the front seat.

U Want 2 Go Go is also the featured culture-and-nightlife column for Eat: Los Angeles where Kim also occasionally contributes to the Events section.

With Karolyn Kiisel, Kim is co-creator of Literary Libations and the Whisky & Poetry Salon: an odd-month event featuring flights of fine single malts and L.A.’s best poets in a 1920’s DTLA loft.  The Whisky & Poetry Salon creates a sense of intimacy, immediacy and excitement through guest participation.  Everyone “owns” the evening by bringing a poem (either original or not), which they can read or have read for them.

From 2011 – 2012, Kim’s love of local L.A. culture found outlet in two columns: The View from Jack Smith’s Street for Highland Park-Mount Washington Patch.com andEat/Drink/See: Eagle Rock for Eagle Rock Patch.com.

With husband Marty Axelrod, Kim co-wrote and co-produced Emperor Norton the Musical, about California’s only “Emperor”; the play had three successful productions over five years in Los Angeles and San Francisco.  The revamped play will relaunch in 2013/2014.

Co-written with Colleen Dunn Bates, Jill Ganon, and Mel Malmberg, Kim’s Pasadena-centric novel PERFECT, a story of friendship, cocktails and kidnapping, will be published in 2014.
