Vintage Howard Hughes/RKO Movie Posters Sale to Benefit Los Angeles Foster Youth Scholarships
Hundreds of posters, lobby cards, stills and memorabilia from a private collection of Howard Hughes/RKO movies will be sold at this event that is being organized by Youth Opportunities United, a California non-profit that has provided scholarships, art education, and other support to Los Angeles County foster youth for over twenty years. The collection offered for sale is as varied as Hughes’ life. He was equally famous as businessman, aviator, and filmmaker, and posters for sale from his films include noir titles such as The Racket (1926) and Bunco Squad (1950), aviation classics Hell’s Angels (1930) and Flying Leathernecks (1951), comedies such as Susan Slept Here (1954) and Hughes’ most well-known films The Outlaw (1943), Scarface (1932) and Macao (1952). This one-night-only event will allow those attending to view the entire collection while enjoying appetizers and drinks. Most of the posters and lobby cards are professionally mounted and framed. A live auction of a select group of posters will start at 7:30 pm. Other posters, lobby cards, stills and memorabilia may be purchased throughout the evening. Tickets are $25 in advance or $30 at the door and may be purchased here. All proceeds will go directly to Youth Opportunities United in support of its scholarship and Animagination programs.
