Without quite realizing it, I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve taken on the task of refuting the exhausted caricature of Los Angeles as a city of laid-back pleasure-seekers with photographs of Hispanic grandmothers, bridges over the sluggish L.A. River, neon apartment signs, storefront churches, and more.
